The Kickstarter pre-launch for my latest project as editor and publisher, STORYTELLER: A Tanith Lee Tribute Anthology, just went live!
You can check out all the project details here. I’m both excited and relieved to finally begin the countdown. (It’s been in the planning stages for over a year!) The book includes all new fiction by Terri Windling, Martha Wells, Nisi Shawl, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Theodora Goss, Andy Duncan, Maya Deane, C.S.E Cooney, plus an open submissions window once the Kickstarter funds.

DAY: There are so many more avenues and gatekeepers now, including self-publishing, which has its own gatekeeper, social media algorithms. Aim for the work you want to create and find the places that will connect with what you are trying to do. Unless that is truly your writing purpose, don’t just keep knocking on the same damn doors. “Forty Seconds to Looking Glass Road,” just came in The Sunday Morning Transport! Magic, loss, and family lore in Far West Texas. It’s my first publication this year and my first with The Sunday Morning Transport. I’m thrilled to know it’s out in the world and with such a good home!

Standing in Jorge’s hidden garden, with its water-impoverished stand of willow trees, Carl wasn’t so much surprised as resigned. The Quinone family curse had struck again. This time it was in the form of a sealed glass booth, seven feet tall and three feet wide, set on an empty stretch of the Chihuahuan Desert—a trip to Looking Glass Road via Texas public lands.
A strange truth: Carl was now the only Quinone left living in Alpine.
“Goodbye,” Mama had said all those weeks ago, as though she were just heading out for another drive, as though there wasn’t a nurse standing nearby.
